Colorfield
(Custom Software, 2022)
Multicoloured organic forms ebb and flow, working both as individuals and as a collective, in this exploration of community and diversity. Some colours and forms are also transparent, causing the creation of new hues and tones as one overlaps the other. Similarly, one may converge with another, becoming a singular unit, making Colourfield a metaphor for how a community operates, supports its members, and transforms across time and space. It demonstrates the meeting points, overlaps, and diverse individuals that transform and shape a community. As the colors and forms morph and move in all directions, some occasionaly come to a rest, allowing viewers to slow down and observe, offering a meditative and reflective space.
Colorfield was a large format projection spanning 16' by 40'. It was also displayed on indoor and outdoor LED digital signage of various sizes. Everything you see was created with code (JavaScript and GLSL), by hand, without the use of any graphic, or video software.

2. Distort the circle using simplex noise.
3. Animate the distorted circle.
4. Generate a color gradient and apply it to the distorted circle.
5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 to build layers, using blending modes to combine them.
